Washington DC, USA -  Namibia’s First Lady, Madam Penehupifo Pohamba, was honored with the UPF’s Ambassador for Peace appointment on July 26 for her work supporting maternal and child health care and also in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Kampala, Uganda - During an interfaith trip to Ethiopia, Zambia, Malawi, and Uganda from June 29 to July 19, a European delegation representing UPF and the International Relief Friendship Foundation in Europe visited schools they support in Kampala and rural areas of Uganda.

New York, USA - New York City Council members, community leaders, local pastors, and musicians gathered in the art gallery of the Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., State Office Building in Harlem on July 20 to honor the nine New York winners of the 19th Annual Parents' Day awards, all local parents who had made heroic efforts to nurture their children and the children of others.

Lebanese Ambassador for Peace H.E. Fouad El-Turk died, at age 80, of a stroke in the early hours of July 17. Ambassador Turk was a pivotal figure in Lebanese diplomacy and an honest leader in advocating politics and policy making in the true interest of the nation. He was ambassador to the United Nations and countries in Europe, Africa, and Latin America.

Panama City, Panama - “Regional Cooperation in Latin America and the Caribbean for Peace and Development,” was the title of a June 22-24 UPF conference in Panama City with representatives from Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
