Lagos, Nigeria - A nationwide conference on Marriage and Family as Instruments for Peace and National Development took place June 6-7, 2012 during a time of national mourning after a plane crash in Lagos claimed the lives of 163 people.

London, UK - A European Leadership Conference in London June 15-17 considered "Human Rights and the Protection of the Un-Empowered and the Dispossessed." Distinguished delegates from many European countries were in attendance.

New York, New York: As in previous years, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon issued a message marking the 100-day countdown to the observance of the International Day of Peace, September 21, and announced this year's theme: "Sustainable Peace for a Sustainable Future."

Moscow, Russia - Starting at the "zero” kilometer in Red Square in Moscow, the track-and-field super-marathon for youth entitled “Children against Drugs – I Choose Sports!” was launched on June 11. By the time the race ends on June 23 in Minsk, Belarus, it is hoped that participants will be planning more ways to create a culture of peace by means of sports.

Jerusalem, Israel - The Israeli chapter of UPF hosted a prominent Ambassador for Peace from Germany, Dr. Hedwig Raskob, who often visits Israel and Palestine to help advise on conflict resolution. Several well-known professors were invited to a May 31 meeting chaired by Prof. Glaubach.

Tokyo, Japan - To the tune of Africa’s vibrant rhythms and melodies, about 100 people, more young ones than their seniors, danced around in Tokyo’s African restaurant on May 27. Commemorating Africa Day, UPF-Japan and a non-government organization Team Africa for Peace & Prosperity co-organized an event ‘Amazing Africa – Multi-cultural Experiences.’
