Albanians Celebrate Women's Day with Music and Dance

Tirana, Albania - On Sunday, March 8, the Albanian Women Federation for World Peace held a meeting to commemorate International Women's Day. It took place in the hall of the "Officer's House," a venue offered by an Ambassador for Peace. It turned out to be a very good choice because of its central location in the city.
Over 50 people came for the program, moderated by another Ambassador for Peace, Mrs. Myrvete Kuka, a teacher. The program opened with greetings from Mr. Gaqo Apostoli, a well-known politician and a member of the Universal Peace Federation's Global Peace Council. Mr Apostoli, who is also quite a good singer, entertained everybody with a beautiful song.
Then Mrs. Marjeta Rroshi, vice president of Women's Federation for World Peace in Albania, presented a short history of Women's Day, explaining its origin.
A special part of the program was the introduction of Japanese goodwill ambassadors who came to Albania to support UPF's Global Peace Initiative. We used the opportunity to express our appreciation for their contribution to Albania and presented flowers to Mrs. Keiko Herai, the first president and a founding member of Women's Federation for World Peace in Albania.
The last past part of the official program was an invitation for everyone present to participate in the global peace rally on March 13. This was followed by karaoke singing, dancing to folk music, and lunch.
We received many positive comments about the program. March 8 is a day when most women of Albania traditionally go out with other women, so there were many other events scheduled for that day. Surprisingly, quite a few people who initially said they had other plans showed up at our event after all.
