Togolese Music and Dance Uplift Spirits in a Devastated Area of Japan

Sendai, Japan - In order to revitalize the Tohoku Region in Japan, the worst-affected area of the March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami, and also to celebrate the Independence Day of Togo, a music concert was held on April 28 in Sendai city of the Miyagi prefecture, one of the central cities of the Tohoku Region.

Condolences for Those Suffering from the Sichuan Earthquake

Seiko Hatano Lee Gives Concert in the Netherlands

Bergen aan Zee, Netherlands - The Japanese singer Seiko Hatano Lee gave a “Spring Concert” in Huize Glory, North Holland on April 11. It was the last concert of her 2013 visit to Europe, which had been mainly in Germany and Austria; this concert was arranged at very short notice.

UPF-Europe Donates Medical Supplies for North Korean Children's Hospital

UPF-Europe has sent five shipments (three by sea and two by air) of medical supplies for a North Korean children's hospital donated by Germany, Spain, and Norway. The project in support of UPF's North East Asia Peace Initiative was facilitated by the North Korean Red Cross.

Outstanding Volunteers Honored in Buenos Aires

Under the slogan "Let's say together: 'Thank you!'" UPF-Argentina commemorated International Volunteer Day at the Peace Embassy in Buenos Aires on December 5. This date was set by the UN on December 17, 1985 to "raise greater awareness of the important contribution of volunteers, thus encouraging more people in all social conditions to offer their services as volunteers."

Funds Sought to Care for HIV Patients and Orphans in Lesotho

Maseru, Lesotho - Seeking to make a difference in the nation with the third-highest HIV-infection rate in the world, UPF-Lesotho is seeking funds to provide community-based care for orphans and sick adults in 20 villages that will enable them to have adequate food, gain an education, and generate income.
