Moscow, Russia - How to stimulate volunteerism was the main topic for about 200 representatives from Russian NGOs, businesses and government who met at the 10th All-Russia Conference on Volunteerism. The conference, titled "Development Strategy for Volunteerism in Russia—2020 Road Map,” was held on Nov. 11, in the Russian Federation Civic Chamber building in Moscow.

Buenos Aires, Argentina - The “National Grandparents Day,” which is celebrated in Argentina every third Sunday of August, was the opportunity to give a silent but moving tribute to the elders from the Santa Ana y San Joaquín Home in the Flores Suburb, city of Buenos Aires. Ambassadors for Peace, people related to UPF-Argentina and the local Women's Federation for World Peace organized a lunch and table conversations with many surprises on August 23.

Taipei, Taiwan - Ambassadors for Peace David Eaton and David D’Or performed two concerts on July 21 with the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra at the National Concert Hall in Taipei, Taiwan. Mr. Eaton and Mr. D’Or performed music by Verdi, Mozart, Bernstein, Bach, Albinoni, Arlen, Gershwin, and Mr. Eaton’s “Pavane.” The concerts were sponsored by the Tzu Chi Foundation, a Taiwan-based Buddhist organization that provides humanitarian aid to countries throughout the world.

Slyudanka, Russia - The 4th Baikal Volunteer Forum, July 8 to 21, was organized by volunteers with support of UPF and several other non-profit organizations. The focus was on developing a framework for promoting ecotourism and encouraging local people to take more initiative in caring for the unique ecosystem around this Siberian lake.

Las Vegas, USA - The First Lady of Mali, Mrs. Mintou Doucouré Traoré, arrived in Las Vegas, Nevada, on June 15 to participate in a UPF seminar and to meet with local officials and dignitaries interested in helping humanitarian activities in her country. The First Lady was accompanied on her four-day visit by the Malian Ambassador to the United States.

Chisinau, Moldova - On May 27, the eve of International Children's Day, volunteers with UPF-Moldova together with the pupils of the Galata Gymnasium visited children at boarding school № 5 in Chisinau. The sixth and seventh-graders and the school psychologist and Ambassador for Peace Lily Golovei prepared and put on a performance of "Brave Elena." Then the children at the boarding school recited poems and sang songs.
