Consultations take place among scholars, diplomats, government officials, civil society representatives and religious leaders.

 

Nairobi, Kenya - Two days before a national referendum, UPF-Kenya organized a Peace Campaign on August 2 that included planting trees symbolizing the various faith communities in Kenya. Trees were planted representing Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, and Brahma Kumaris. The Nigerian ambassador to Kenya called for a peaceful referendum as he dedicated a tree of peace. Representatives of the various faith communities joined in prayers for peace.

Durban, South Africa — the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Jean Ping, has called for all nations in Africa to support the objectives of the 2010 Year of Peace and Security in Africa, through engaging in activities to Make Peace Happen in Africa in 2010 and beyond.

Lusaka, Zambia - Eleven members of the Peace Council of UPF-Zambia took part in a Special Consultation April 9, 2010, at the Peace Embassy to develop a strategic plan to educate Ambassadors for Peace.

Toronto, Canada - UPF Central District welcomed Col. Akanni B. Ola – Adé Adéogba of International Strategic Relations in Benin, who has been on a long visit to Canada to seek support for peace in Africa. Col. Akanni was pleased to attend the November 14 meeting with UPF Ambassadors for Peace in the Central District of Canadian Chapter. He has been almost three months in Canada but he has been on peace missions to Liberia, Congo, Chad, and many other parts of Africa.
