Cagayan De Oro City, Mindanao, Philippines: At the conclusion of the Global Peace Festival (GPF) in Mindanao September 21, on a stage constructed on the provincial capital grounds, former Speaker of the House, Jose de Venecia, Jr. called on the Philippine government to renew the peace talks, earmark USD 2.1 billion (Pesos 100 billion), and bring the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) into the peace process as a neutral partner in the negotiations.

“Insecurity has three synonyms," said Mr. Laurent Ladouce in an overview on human security. "The first is a danger threatening one’s existence, the other is uncertainty about one’s identity, and the third is precariousness, limitations to what one can have or do. Most African countries exemplfy the three forms of insecurity. The UPF agrees with the general agenda of human security, i.e., freedom from want and freedom from fear.

Reconciling Liberia One Community at a Time

Pursuant to its core mandate to promote peace, justice and reconciliation, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) of Liberia for three years embarked upon series of processes in the implementation of its mandate. A key component of the Commission’s work was the holding of hearings in the 15 counties of Liberia and the United States of America in accommodation of Liberians in the Diaspora.
