Biratnagar, Nepal - “The response was unexpected; it was overwhelming,” reported Mr. Prakash Babu Thapa, the President of Nepal’s chapter of the student organization, World–Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles. He was giving details about a second five-day Principles of Peace seminar conducted August 15-19 in southern Nepal where organizers had planned for 220 participants at the Opening Session – but instead 350 guests showed up.

Cabinda, Angola - UPF-Angola organized a conference in the National Radio Hall in Cabinda on August 18 on the topic "Looking for the New Culture of Peace." Forty-eight people attended the event, including the head and chief of the local police, university professors, businessmen, and social leaders.

Kathmandu, Nepal - Under the theme, “Raising Public-Minded Leaders for Building a Nation of Peace,” the Universal Peace Federation of Nepal co-sponsored a five-day leadership education seminar in Kathmandu August 5-9. There were 102 participants from India and 150 from Nepal.

Bangkok, Thailand - Fifty-six participants from nine countries tasted Thai hospitality and learned about Dr. Sun Myung Moon's universal principles of peace at an Asian Leadership Conference August 1-5.

Chengdu, China - The 3rd Forum of Ecological Safety, Human Development and Health, China, was held in Chengdu, China July 28 to 31. Chairman Dr. Jiang Mingjun extended invitations to UPF President Dr. Thomas Walsh, Secretary General Tageldin Hamad, and Genie Kagawa, UN Office. The UPF speech was presented by Mr. Hamad on the dialogue of civilizations. The location of the conference was Chengdu, site of the holy city of Taoyuan, the birthplace of Taosim in China.

Stuttgart, Germany - At its biennial meeting on July 6, 2013, UPF-Germany leaders reviewed past conferences and discussed how to address issues of concern in Germany, including increasing secularization, the challenge of integration and the role of the family.

San Jose, Costa Rica - UPF-Costa Rica is legally registered under the name "Asociación de Embajadores para la Paz Universal" (Association of Ambassadors for Universal Peace). The work plan for 2013 and 2014 includes holding events on topics such as The Origin of Family Peace," and "Leadership and Family," with the participation of distinguished political, economic, and social leaders. Also, lectures about venereal disease are given to residents of Hogares Crea. Every Thursday from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, a TV program callled "Senderos de Paz" (Pathways to Peace) is broadcast through Telepaz Channel 52.

Nice, France - A new Peace Embassy was inaugurated on July 1 in Nice, in the south of France near Monaco. Patrick Jouan started by welcoming the 30 guests; he then showed a video and gave a PowerPoint introduction to the Universal Peace Federation.

Washington DC, US - On May 30, 2013 the temperature hit over 90 degrees. It was like a heat stroke covering the Washington, DC area. Nevertheless, for the guests the weather was not a barrier to enjoying the green tea that was prepared with the utmost care by the UPF staff and volunteers.
