London, UK - Dr. Bhupendra Kumar Modi was presented with an Ambassador for Peace certificate on June 30 at the conclusion of a day's conference of the Global Citizen Forum in London. Dr. Modi is a renowned businessman, philanthropist, and Chairman of Spice Global. He was appointed by the United Nations as the Coordinator for the Indian subcontinent for the Millennium World Peace Summit. He has promoted interfaith cooperation and a global vision that has great similarity with UPF's founding concept of humanity being one family of a loving God.

One of the Dutch producers behind Fitna, an anti-Islam film that caused worldwide outrage from Muslims, Arnoud Van Doorn, decided to investigate more about Islam when he saw the outrage caused by the 2008 film made by DutchparliamentarianGeert Wilders. “For me, Islam was a violent religion that oppressed women and was no good for society,” Van Doorn said. He began to realize that his views of Islam had been based on negative images in the media.

Hanoi, Vietnam - Israeli vocalist David D’Or and American conductor David Eaton--both of whom are Ambassadors for Peace--performed with the Hanoi Philharmonic at the Hanoi Opera House as part of the “Friendship Melody” concert commemorating the 20th anniversary of Israeli and Vietnam diplomatic relations. The concert took place on April 11 and was attended by numerous diplomats and the respective ambassadors of Israel and Vietnam.

Port-au-Prince, Haiti - During 2012, UPF-Haiti educated and appointed Ambassadors for Peace. To help fight malnutrition and deforestation, a moringa tree was planted in Miragoane and people were educated in its care. Also, a Pure Love Festival was held.

It turned into a real holiday in a family atmosphere and interreligious reunion with past and new friendships made during the year.
