Ambassadors for Peace Concert in Vietnam Celebrates Diplomatic Ties

Hanoi, Vietnam - Israeli vocalist David D’Or and American conductor David Eaton--both of whom are Ambassadors for Peace--performed with the Hanoi Philharmonic at the Hanoi Opera House as part of the “Friendship Melody” concert commemorating the 20th anniversary of Israeli and Vietnam diplomatic relations. The concert took place on April 11 and was attended by numerous diplomats and the respective ambassadors of Israel and Vietnam.

Owing to the latest accident, people’s good faith in nuclear energy has been greatly reduced while trust in the public authorities and the electric companies has fallen to a rock-bottom low. It will not be easy to recover the lost credibility, requiring a long time and sincere efforts including transparency which is a very vital element. In a democratic nation, nuclear energy cannot be sustained without popular trust and support. At the same time, people should deal with matters related to energy and atomic power in more reasonable and cool-headed fashion.

Gisborne, New Zealand - Ambassador for Peace Tiotira Rauna represented UPF-New Zealand at the annual Te Unga Mai voyaging festival on October 8 at the Gisborne Conference Center. The commemoration of Captain James Cook’s arrival in 1769 “and the sad events that happened at that time” included interfaith readings by members of Presbyterian, Muslim, Anglican, Hindu and Baha’i faiths. Dar es Salaam, Tanzania - Major General Silas Paul Mayunga of Tanzania passed to the spirit world on August 6. A former High Commissioner for Tanzania in Nigeria, he was an active Ambassador for Peace. He was in Delhi, India, being treated for throat cancer when he passed away on August 6.
