RYS-Hungary Restores Shelters and Gardens

Hungary—The Hungary project was done with the strong cooperation of the Hungarian Red Cross whose volunteers helped make the Tatabanya program a huge success.
RYS-England Creats a Peace Garden from an Abandoned Lot

Southall, England—RYS alumni, Marshal D' Souza sought to create a local model which could attract support form campuses and religious organizations in the growing diverse nation of England. As a result a Peace Garden was created out of an abandon rubbish filled lot. RYS participants and staff helped with removing garbage, digging and landscaping, and some light construction.
RYS Runs East Africa Project in Kenya

Nairobi, Kenya—The RYS contracted an RYS alumni to organize and help run a project in Kenya. Participants after an orientation in Nairobi went to a Massei home area where they did work on the grounds, fenced areas for grazing and did restoration work on some buildings.
RYS-Thailand Helps Work on a Hall at an Orphanage

Sukhothai, Thailand—RYS participants and staff helped work on a multi-purpose hall at an orphanage which was to be used as a moral education center.
RYS-Peru Assists in Building a Medical Center for Community of Orphans

Lima, Peru—RYS helped in the building of a medical center for a community of orphans called La Citidad por Nino's. This was the first project run in the Spanish language. The project attracted high profile community and national level leaders included the First Lady, Mrs. Fujimora visited the work sight.
RYS-India Restores Parts of a Famous School

Madras, India—From October 25 to November 7, substantial work was carried out in extending classrooms and restoring part of a famous old school.
RYS-Thailand Helps Set Up a 3rd National Program

Ubonratchathami Province, Thailand—The RYS worked on the restoration of a school at the central Buddhist monastery of the region. The weather was extremely hot but repairs and restoration were substantial.
RYS Held International Alumni Project in United States

California, United States—This conference for 500 religious leaders and scholars had a theme that related to passing on the inheritance to the next generation. Most of the participants and staff were worldwide RYS alumni who were invited to attend the Assembly of the World's Religions (AWR).
RYS-Poland Works at Three Sites in Southwest Poland

Krakow, Poland—Three work sites, Krakow, Zakopane and Karniowice, all in the Southwest part of Poland, were arranged within a two-hour drive of each other. This project was welcomed by the Polish people and municipal leaders who viewed this as a great opportunity to link their communities to the international youth.
RYS-Italy Repairs Former Church used for Social Service

Rome Italy—From April 17th to the 27th, participants repaired a former church that was being used for social services. Most of the participants helped with the carpentry work and light construction tasks.
RYS-Thailand builds an Orphanage and Day Care

Southern Thailand—Based on the success of the first Thailand RYS project a second project, was designed and implemented from April 1st to the 13th. Whereas the first project was in the North, the second was carried out in the South and brought participants from all regions of the nation.
RYS-Thailand Works with Village and Learns from Culture

Chang-Mai/Baan Nong Gai Village, Thailand— Thirty-one staff and participants attended this first Thailand National RYS Program, held in the Chiang Mai area, Thailand, on October 17-26, 1989.

Rome, Artena and Palestrina, Italy— RYS participants enjoyed the cultural, historic, and sightseeing programs. The educational program offered not only a deep understanding of Christianity but of aspects of all the major world religions.
RYS Repairs Methodist Church and Dehli Mosque in India

New Dehli, India— RYS participants worked from January 4th to the 11th to restore parts of a Methodist Church and also repaired portions of a Delhi mosque to model the cooperation between people of faith.
RYS Builds Various Centers in Spain

Baza, Granada and Sevilla, Spain— RYS renovated and built centers for different needs in three different cities. The program offered a rich diversity of cultural programs as well as special insights into Christianity, Judaism and Islam.
RYS Constructs a Community Center in Portugal

Lisbon, Portugal—The RYS selected Portugal as the host nation for the next project and chose to largely focus on caring for the African immigrant population near Lisbon. Constructing a community center was a way to help give a place for older and younger generations to come together.
RYS Builds School in Kenya

Western Kenya—In hopes to learn how to work efficiently in Africa the IRFF and RYS combined to set up a smaller regional project which could benefit the local community while serving as a training ground for future activites.
RYS Education and Cultural Programs in the Philippines

Aphalit, Cavite and Ilo-Ilo Island, Philippines—The participants spent four days in Manila taking part in education and cultural programs. During this time they visited both religious and cultural sites including a mosque, Taoist Center, Buddhist temple and Roman Catholic Cathedral.
