Kathmandu, Nepal - UPF-Nepal partnered with Religions for Peace and Nepal Anuvrat Samiti (Nepal Commitment Society of the Jain tradition) to hold a UN World Interfaith Harmony Week celebration in Kathmandu on February 7. An essay competition focusing on students was held with the theme, "Celebrating Interfaith Harmony for Love and Service to One Another." The venue was a local government school.

In 2005, Rev. and Mrs. Sun Myung Moon arrived in Kathmandu to found UPF, and the Maoist insurgents and the government's Seven Party Alliance signed a 12-point Memorandum of Understanding, beginning Nepal's peace process.

Kathmandu, Nepal - A thousand oil lamps were lit in honor of Dr. Sun Myung Moon’s life on September 9 in Swoyambyol, at one of the oldest and most famous Buddhist temples in Nepal. Venerable Khenpo Sangye Kalsang, Principal and Director of the Buddha Dharma Center in Swoyambyo, led the ceremony of lighting 1,000 lamps, chanting, and prayers, which was conducted in great respect for Father Moon’s interreligious activities and education throughout the world.
